CompoundingThe problems that keep coming up
Four things we hear on almost every first call in this sector. If two or more sound familiar, the fix is usually structural rather than a bigger budget.
Apparel returns sit in a different league from other retail, and the reason codes are nearly always the same two words: too small, too big. Each one costs the outbound label, the return label, picking and packing twice, and a garment that comes back mid-season, creased, and sells at markdown. The fix is not a better returns policy. It is garment measurements per size, a model's height and worn size, and honest words about how the fabric behaves after a wash.
Apparel is the strictest category in Merchant Center. Every variant needs size, colour, gender, age group, material and a GTIN of its own, so a style in five colours and seven sizes is thirty-five items, not one. Themes that publish the parent product only lose Shopping entirely, and Meta, Pinterest and TikTok Shop read from the same feed, so one data problem takes out every paid channel at once.
Spring drops, summer markdown, autumn pre-order, holiday. The homepage, the lookbook, the navigation and the sale logic have to change several times a year, and it is usually the founder doing it at midnight before a launch. Anything that needs a developer to update simply does not get updated, so last season's collection stays live into February.
Instagram and TikTok build the brand and then keep the audience. Reach changes without warning, an account gets restricted for a week during a launch, and there is no way to email the eleven thousand people who follow you. Brands that survive that treat social as the top of the funnel and move everyone they can onto a list and a domain they own.
A stockist writes an order at keystone, then watches you run 40% off on your own site the week their delivery lands. Meanwhile the retailer who wanted to buy cannot find a line sheet, minimums, delivery windows or terms anywhere. Running both channels means separate pricing, separate promotion rules and a wholesale path that does not sit behind an email address and a two-day wait.
Bridal gowns ordered six to eight months out, a bespoke suit needing three fittings, two hundred embroidered polos with an in-hands date. The enquiry always arrives as "how much?" and answering it properly takes garment, quantity, decoration method, placement, colour count and a deadline. Without a structured intake, someone spends their afternoon on email instead of on the shop floor.
How We Fix It for Fashion & Apparel
Four moves, in this order. The sequence matters more than any individual tactic.
We Design Against Returns
Adding to cart is the easy metric. We build the measurement tables, swatches, per-variant imagery and exchange-first returns that decide whether the order stays, and we report returns by style and size so the next fit block is better.
Product Data Is Treated as Infrastructure
Sizes, colours, barcodes, GTINs and category attributes are built once and pushed everywhere — Shopping, Meta, Pinterest, TikTok Shop, your marketplaces. Most fashion ad problems we are asked to fix turn out to be feed problems.
Wholesale and Retail, Side by Side
We build the trade side as seriously as the consumer side: applications, minimums, terms, line sheets and reorder flows, with promotion rules that stop your own sale undercutting a stockist the week their delivery lands.
You Edit the Season Yourself
Homepage, lookbooks, navigation, sale badges and drop pages are yours to change without a developer, because a fashion site that needs a ticket raised to swap a banner will be out of date by the second month.
You Own Every Account
Domain, store, ad accounts, Klaviyo list, product feeds and CRM sit in your company's name from day one. Our starting price is published, terms are thirty days and there is no long lock-in.
Services That Work for Fashion & Apparel
The channel mix we usually recommend in this vertical.
Everything a fashion & apparel business needs, under one team
Website solutions
- Product pages carrying garment measurements per size, model height and worn size, fabric composition, stretch and care — the questions that create a return when left unanswered
- Colour swatches on the collection grid with per-variant photography, so nobody buys a colourway they have never actually seen
- Drop, waitlist and pre-order pages that hold launch traffic instead of dumping it onto a grid of sold-out sizes
- Shoppable lookbooks and editorial linking straight to the product page rather than into a dead-end collection
- A wholesale area behind login with line sheets, minimums, delivery windows, terms and downloadable assets
- Appointment booking for bridal fittings, styling sessions and bespoke consultations, with a deposit taken at the point of booking
Lead generation
- Custom and decorated apparel quote forms capturing garment, quantity, print or embroidery method, placement, colour count and in-hands date
- Wholesale applications asking for store name, resale certificate, storefront or online, and opening order size, so the reply is a line sheet rather than a question
- Bridal appointment requests that ask the wedding date, budget band, party size and how far out they are, and book straight into the diary
- Back-in-stock and waitlist capture on every sold-out size — the highest-intent list a fashion brand owns and the one most brands never build
- Retailer prospecting across Faire and JOOR alongside your own outreach, because that is where buyers open their laptop
- Local inventory ads and free local listings for boutiques, so a shopper searching nearby sees what is on the rail today
Marketing
- Shopping and Performance Max campaigns fed by clean variant-level data, since in apparel the feed decides what shows far more than the bid does
- Paid social planned around creative volume rather than one hero asset, and judged on new-customer cost instead of blended ROAS flattered by returning buyers
- Creator and affiliate programmes run through ShopMy, LTK or Shopify Collabs with gifting, codes and attribution tracked properly
- Search aimed at the long tail people genuinely type — plus size mother of the bride dresses, made to measure suits El Paso, custom embroidered polos — not head terms owned by marketplaces
- Generative engine optimisation, because shoppers now ask an assistant to name brands and receive an answer assembled from sources that may never mention you
- Email and SMS as the spine of the season: drops, restocks in a specific size, back-in-stock, and end-of-season with a reason attached
Social media
- Instagram and TikTok treated as the top of the funnel they are, with every post routed to a product page or a list sign-up
- Creator and customer content used as the primary paid creative, since studio imagery rarely outperforms it in feed
- TikTok Shop, Instagram Shopping and Pinterest catalogues synced to live stock, so a video that takes off does not sell what you cannot ship
- Pinterest given real weight for bridal, occasionwear and jewellery, where the buying window runs for months and a pin keeps working
- A behind-the-seams thread — fabric sourcing, sampling, factory visits, fit sessions — which is what turns followers into people who defend the brand
CRM & GoHighLevel
- GoHighLevel pipelines for the sales that involve a human: wholesale accounts, bridal appointments, custom orders and made-to-measure clients
- Client books for boutique and bridal staff holding sizes, past purchases, preferred designers and event dates, so the follow-up reads as personal
- Wholesale account records with terms, last order value and sell-through timing, making a stockist who has gone quiet visible before the season ends
- Custom order tracking from artwork approval through proof, production and in-hands date, with the customer updated at each stage
- Every enquiry in one inbox — Instagram DMs, email, web forms and calls — instead of three people guessing who replied
Automation
- Klaviyo flows keyed to size and variant rather than to the parent product, so back-in-stock means back in their size
- Post-purchase requests that ask a fit question with the review, and feed the answer back into the size guide for that style
- Exchange-first returns in Loop that offer the next size before they offer a refund, keeping the revenue and the customer
- Wholesale reorder prompts timed to a stockist's sell-through instead of your campaign calendar
- Bridal timelines that fire on their own: deposit, order placed, expected arrival, first fitting, second fitting, collection
- Artwork approval and proof chasing for custom orders, so production is never held up by an unanswered email
E-commerce
- Variant architecture done properly — size, colour, length and fit as real options with their own images, stock, barcodes and GTINs
- Klarna, Afterpay and Shop Pay Instalments, which move average order value on higher-ticket bridal, outerwear and jewellery
- Exchange-first returns with reason codes reported by style and size, so you learn which fit block is wrong instead of guessing
- Pre-order and made-to-order with the ship window stated on the button rather than buried in a policy page
- Wholesale on Shopify B2B or synced with Faire and JOOR, so trade pricing, minimums and net terms run without a second website
Features this sector actually needs
Fit Answered Per Style
Garment measurements for every size, model height and the size worn, fabric behaviour and a fit note written by whoever handles returns. The single highest-return page on a fashion site, and the one most brands fill with a generic chart.
A Feed That Survives Merchant Center
Variant-level size, colour, gender, age group, material and GTIN generated automatically and mapped into Google, Meta, Pinterest and TikTok Shop. Disapprovals monitored, because a silent feed rejection reads exactly like a bad ad month.
Drop Pages Built for the Spike
Countdown, waitlist, SMS alert and a launch page that holds up when everyone arrives in the same four minutes. Sold-out sizes collect notify-me signups instead of bouncing traffic you paid for.
Appointment Booking with a Deposit
Bridal fittings, styling sessions and bespoke consultations booked online with wedding date, budget band and party size captured, a deposit taken, and reminders that cut the no-shows a Saturday diary cannot afford.
Custom Apparel Quoting
Garment picker, artwork upload, decoration method, placement, colour count and quantity-break pricing that shows the next tier. Team and club stores that open, take orders for two weeks, close and report by size.
Wholesale Portal and Line Sheets
Approved retailers log in to trade pricing, minimums, pack sizes, delivery windows and terms, download the line sheet and reorder without emailing anybody. Applications screened before pricing is ever shown.
Exchange-First Returns
The portal offers a different size, then store credit, then a refund — in that order. Reason codes report by style, size and colour, so a fit problem shows up as a pattern rather than as a bad month.
Jewellery Detail and Ring Builder
Metal, stone, carat and setting as real filterable options, certificate details on the page, and a ring builder fed by live stone availability so nothing is configured that cannot be supplied.
