Social media marketing is the practice of using social platforms to build audience, demand and revenue. That last word is where most programmes lose the plot.
Pick Two Platforms, Not Six
Spreading across every platform produces mediocrity everywhere. Identify where your buyers actually spend attention and commit properly to two or three.
- Instagram — visual products, local services, lifestyle brands
- LinkedIn — B2B, professional services, recruitment
- TikTok — younger demographics, demonstration-friendly products
- Facebook — local community, 35+ audiences, event promotion
- YouTube — considered purchases, education-led selling
Content Volume Is Not the Metric
Twelve strong pieces beat forty weak ones. Hook quality in the first two seconds determines whether anything else in the video matters.
Organic and Paid Are One System
Organic tells you which creative resonates. Paid puts budget behind the proven winners. Splitting these across two vendors wastes both budgets — a common and expensive mistake.
Does Follower Count Matter?
Barely. Reach is now distributed by interest, not subscription, on almost every major platform. Engagement rate, saves, shares and — critically — assisted conversions tell you far more than a follower number.
Measuring It Honestly
Social rarely gets last-click credit and looks worthless in a default analytics report. Use view-through windows, self-reported attribution ("how did you hear about us?") and holdout tests to see the real contribution.
